Why Monitor SSL

Step 1: View SSL Status

  1. Open SecurEcommerce
  2. Navigate to SSL Monitoring
  3. View your current status

What You’ll See

  • Certificate validity status
  • Expiration date
  • Configuration assessment
  • Any detected issues

Step 2: Understand the Checks

Certificate Validity

  • Is the certificate valid?
  • Does it match your domain?
  • Is it from a trusted issuer?

Expiration Date

  • When does it expire?
  • Alerts at 30, 14, 7 days before

Configuration

  • Protocol versions
  • Cipher strength
  • Known vulnerabilities

Domain Matching

  • Certificate matches your domain?
  • Includes www and non-www?

Step 3: Configure Alerts

Alert Settings

  1. Navigate to alert preferences
  2. Set email notifications
  3. Choose alert timing
  • 30 days before expiration: Warning
  • 14 days before: Urgent
  • 7 days before: Critical

Understanding SSL Issues

Expiring Soon

Certificate approaching expiration:

  • Shopify usually auto-renews
  • Check Shopify domain settings
  • Contact support if not renewing

Mixed Content

HTTPS page loading HTTP resources:

  • Check for hardcoded http:// links
  • Update to https:// or relative URLs

Configuration Issues

Weak protocols or ciphers:

  • Usually hosting-level issues
  • May require Shopify support

Shopify SSL Notes

Shopify handles SSL automatically for:

  • yourstore.myshopify.com
  • Custom domains verified through Shopify

Issues usually involve:

  • DNS misconfiguration

If You See Issues

Check Shopify First

  1. Go to Shopify Admin > Settings > Domains
  2. Verify domain status
  3. Re-verify if needed

For Custom Domains

  1. Check DNS settings
  2. Verify CNAME/A records
  3. Allow propagation time
