How to Forward Suspicious Emails for Analysis

Forward suspicious emails as attachments to:

analyze@mail.securecommerce.io

Why Forward as Attachment?

Forwarding an email as an attachment preserves the complete email including all headers and metadata, which is essential for accurate phishing detection. A standard forward removes this critical information.

Gmail (Desktop)

Method 1: Forward as Attachment Option

  1. Open Gmail on your computer
  2. Select the checkbox next to the suspicious email(s) you want to analyze
  3. Click the More button (three dots) at the top of your inbox
  4. Select Forward as attachment
  5. In the "To" field, enter: analyze@mail.securecommerce.io
  6. Click Send

Method 2: Drag and Drop

  1. Open Gmail on your computer
  2. Click Compose to start a new email
  3. In the "To" field, enter: analyze@mail.securecommerce.io
  4. From your inbox, drag the suspicious email into the body of your new message
  5. Click Send

Note: This feature is not available on the Gmail mobile app.

Outlook (Desktop - Windows/Mac)

Apple Mail (iOS - iPhone/iPad)

Note: iOS Mail does not have a native "Forward as Attachment" option. Use this workaround:

Drag and Drop Method (iOS 16+)

  1. Open a new email by tapping Compose
  2. In the "To" field, enter: analyze@mail.securecommerce.io
  3. Minimize the draft by dragging it down toward the bottom of the screen
  4. Navigate to the suspicious email you want to analyze
  5. Press and hold the email until you can drag it
  6. Drag the email onto your minimized draft at the bottom
  7. Open the draft and tap Send

Limitation: This method may not preserve all email headers as effectively as desktop methods.

What Happens Next?

Once you forward the email to analyze@mail.securecommerce.io:

  1. Our system automatically receives and processes the email
  2. Advanced analysis checks for:
    • Sender authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC)
    • Domain spoofing attempts
    • Phishing indicators and suspicious links
    • Known malicious URLs
    • Suspicious keywords and patterns
  3. Results appear in your SecurEcommerce dashboard within minutes
  4. You'll see a risk score (0-100) and detailed detection results

Tips for Best Results

  • Forward as soon as possible - Some email headers contain time-sensitive information
  • Don't open suspicious links - Forward the email for analysis before clicking anything
  • Always forward as an attachment - Standard forwarding removes critical email headers and metadata needed for accurate analysis
  • Use desktop when possible - Desktop email clients preserve more email metadata than mobile apps
